LAKEVILLE, CT -- Congratulations to teacher, Mr. Michael Kugler, and his team of 10th grade Engineering (CADD) students from the Warwick Area Career & Technical Center (WACTC) who placed 1st in the Novice Division of Connecticut's Electrathon Competition held in Lakeville, Connecticut on Friday, April 24, 2026.
This event held in Connecticut featured the following:
-- Driving an electrically powered vehicle, assembled and specially optimized, by students to meet the competition's criteria. Students were expected to drive the vehicle as far as possible for one hour on a closed loop course using limited electrical energy.
-- Providing a forum where skill and ingenuity are displayed, compared, and tested.
-- Improving public awareness and understanding of efficient alternative electric vehicles.
-- Creating an affordable sport defined by established rules in which groups and individuals can participate competitively and safely.
Aside from finishing 1st in the novice division, Warwick's students placed 6th out of 28 overall teams across all divisions. Kudos to Warwick's students and teaching team on another impressive accomplishment!
