Everyone has been impacted by the recent sewer issues on Sandy Lane between Fletcher and Trent avenues – aging sewers and heavy rains led to an unfortunate situation there this past weekend (see this WPRI article for more details).

Our concern is how the bus routes have been affected and communicating these changes to our community. To that end, yesterday members of Warwick Public Schools and the City of Warwick met to discuss the lane reduction on Sandy Lane from Fletcher to Trent Avenues. Until further notice, Fletcher Avenue will be closed to through traffic.

Until Sandy Lane is back to normal traffic patterns, there will be 2 modified pick up and drop off locations for students attending Lippitt Elementary School, Toll Gate High School and WACTC.

1) Lippitt bus 5 and Toll Gate/WACTC bus 52 bus stops will be the Warwick Continental Little League Ball Field located at 600 Sandy Lane, behind the Warwick Public Library.

2) Lippitt bus 1 and Toll Gate/WACTC bus 51 bus stop will be the Thayer Arena parking lot. Students on Lippitt Bus 1 that are not affected by the road closure will be picked up at their regular location.

Special Education bus drivers will be contacting parents individually for specific pick up and drop off instructions.

Please be aware that, due to traffic pattern changes on Sandy Lane, the volume of traffic has increased on West Shore Road, which could lead to delays in drop-off and bus arrivals. Please plan accordingly. If your child is eligible to ride the bus we strongly suggest they do so. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep the community updated if and when any changes occur.
