“Home & School Connection” ~ April 2010
-
As your child heads into the final stretch of the
school year, keep him/her motivated to do well. Try these three
suggestions:
-
Show your child that you take his/her “job”
as a student seriously. You might discuss things your jobs
have in common (he/she counts pretend money in math class
and you count real money as a bank teller.) Explain that
his/her schoolwork is preparing him/her for the workplace.
-
Remind your child of his/her
accomplishments. Maybe he/she got Bs in social studies the
first two quarters and a C the third quarter. Suggest that
he/she set a goal for his/her final report card (“I want to
bring my grade back up to a B”).
-
Encourage your child to find one new way to
get involved at school before the year ends. Maybe he/she
could help out in the library or with the spring picnic.
You might also plan to volunteer before the year ends. Your
child will be proud to see you at school hanging artwork in
the hallway or chaperoning a class party.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter! Have a
safe and pleasant April vacation!
