Acceptable Telecommunications Use Program

Notice to Parents

This notice is part of our Acceptable Use Policy and is found on the reverse side of the information contained in "What Students Must Know..."

Consistent with our
Telecommunications Policy, our intent is to inform parents of our rules and procedures before students go online, thereby creating a strong partnership between school and home, one that will work cooperatively to implement and enforce this program.

Parents must sign this form before students are allowed to go online!

From _______________________________________________ School

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Our school is about to use telecommunications to help us gather information on topics that are part of our curriculum. By using the Internet, we will be able to access the latest information almost instantly, as if we were on an 'electronic field trip.'

We want to inform you about how we intend to use telecommunications services and to assure you that every effort will be made to select only those online services that meet our educational needs. Because we intend to police carefully our trips on the Information Super Highway, we want you to know that your student will be carefully monitored while online. Students will be taught proper online behavior and other rules that we feel will give them the skills necessary to make them responsible users of telecommunications services.

On the reverse side of this note you will find rules and policies that are consistent with the school department's telecommunications policy. Please review these online rules and policies with your child. Be sure that both you and your student understand these policies before we begin any telecommunications project.

We sincerely believe that your cooperation is crucial if we are to enforce the policy and have a highly productive learning experience.

If you have any questions about how we are using telecommunications (the Internet, the Web, etc.) in our programs, feel free to contact your school's principal.

Phone 734-3000 and ask to be connected to your school's extension. The principal will get back to you as soon as possible.

Many thanks for your cooperation in reviewing and enforcing these rules of online behavior!

We would appreciate if both you and your child would sign the following indicating that you have reviewed the rules and policies on the reverse side of this page. Have your student return this to the teacher who issued it as soon as possible.
