CANCELLATIONS

In case of inclement weather, it may be necessary to delay or cancel school. Please listen to the local television and radio stations for updates on school closings. In the event of an EMERGENCY closing or an EARLY dismissal of school, please instruct your child/children regarding the following:

• The quickest and safest way home from school.
• Where your child/children should go if you are not at home, for example, to a relative's or a neighbor's home.

When snow is in the forecast, you are strongly urged to monitor television and radio stations for early dismissals, delays and cancellations. During this time the telephone system becomes overloaded and it is very difficult to get a line in or out of Greenwood School.

Students are assigned a bus stop, and must get on/off at that stop unless permission has been granted by the school. Because of overcrowding, students who are not eligible may not request to travel on the bus.

It is extremely important that this card be filled out completely and returned to the school immediately. When completing this form, it would be a good idea to list a relative or neighbor who lives nearby and who has transportation. In the event your child becomes ill during the school day every attempt will be made to contact you. If we are unsuccessful will call the people listed on the accident card. In fact, it might be a good idea to list more than two people. You may use the back of the card to provide us with this information. Seriously ill children cannot be kept in school. In the event of a serious injury your child will be transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO ANY PERSON IF HIS/HER NAME DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE ACCIDENT CARD.
