The 2008-2009 Gorton Chorus has started the year with over 190 students!!!! This year we are having our 3rd Annual Feeder Concert on Friday, December 12th at 9:30am at Vets. The Gorton Chorus, Vets Concert Chorus and Vets Jazz Chorus will be performing for all of the current sixth graders who will be attending Gorton next year. This concert has made a huge difference in the number of students joining chorus at Gorton and Vets and we are excited to be having it again this year!

Our Winter Concert will be on Thursday, December 18th at 7pm in the Gorton Auditorium. This concert is for family and friends and is always a great night. The students are already working hard to prepare the music to make it a very musical night.

On Friday, May 29th 2009 we will be attending the High Note Music Festival at Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT. It will be our third year attending the festival. The festival gives us a chance to perform and be adjudicated by professional musicians. It is also a fun day in the park.

Students in General Music at Gorton are studying the history of American music this year. They are creating PowerPoint presentations reflecting the different musical genres they are interested in. students are also busy with their applied music classes; learning to play the piano, guitar and snare drum.
