Teachers, administrators, and staff from the Gorton Jr. High School collected enough money to feed twenty families of students from Gorton.  Working with the local Stop & Shop, each family was prepared a Thanksgiving dinner that included a 20 pound turkey, stuffing mix, white and sweet potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, cranberry juice, corn, bread rolls, French green beans, and pumpkin pie.  Each box was decorated with autumn scenes that were made by the Gorton faculty.  Handmade Thanksgiving cards were also placed in each box.  The school’s sunshine fund raised over $600 for this worthwhile project.  Teachers and volunteers used their vehicles to pick up the food, to bring it to the school for distribution and in some cases to deliver the meals to those unable to pick up the Thanksgiving dinner boxes.
