SMARTBOARDS & Learning

During the summer of 2009, 22 Gorton teachers attended RITTI (Instructional Technology Training Initiative.) The primary goal of this program is to improve student achievement through the use of technology in elementary and secondary schools. Additional goals include helping all students become technologically literate by the end of the eighth grade and, through the integration of technology with both teacher training and curriculum development, establishing research-based instructional methods that can be widely implemented.
These professional development workshops were designed for training focused on the Graduation By Proficiency information that was presented by Dr. Mercurio, Dr. Siesel and Denise Bilodeau ~ it provided hands-on technology training and a wealth of resources for each participant. The activities are directly related to classroom instruction and assessment.
Teachers have continued to embrace this technology at Gorton; we currently have classrooms with Smartboards or Eno Interactive Whiteboards installed and being used during instruction.
