The 2009-2010 Gorton Chorus and Vets Chorus had their 4th annual Feeder Concert on January 8, 2010. The Gorton Chorus performed as well as the Vets Jazz Chorus and Concert Chorus. All of the current 6th graders who will attend Gorton next year attended the concert. It was a great day and in past years has really boosted the number of students joining all the choruses. It is a wonderful opportunity for all the students grades 6-12 to hear the other choruses.

The Gorton Chorus had their Winter Concert on January 14, 2010 at 7pm in the Gorton Auditorium. The concert was wonderful and the students did a great job. The songs performed at the concert were: 1.Ain't No Mountain High Enough 2. Sing All Together Now 3. A Joyful Israeli Canon 4. One Candle, One Flame 5.Accentuate the Positive 6. Winter Wonderland and 7. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.

The students are now working on their music for the Spring Concert. We have started working on It's Ragtime! and Come Away and Sing. We will soon be working on additional songs.

Students in General Music at Gorton are studying the history of American music this year. They are creating PowerPoint presentations reflecting the different musical genres they are interested in. students are also busy with their applied music classes; learning to play the piano, guitar and snare drum.
